mounted porcelain 017

Exceptional pair of Sèvres soft paste cobalt blue porcelain vases fuseau in superb neoclassical ormolu mounts. The split handles are decorated with Apollo masks above the ormoulu rim and terminate in bearded satyr faces. These bronzes are nearly identical to mounts, probably made at Sèvres, found on other Sèvres vases fuseau sharing the identical form of these vases. The porcelain is marked with a cobalt blue “G”, possibly the mark of Victor Godin, who did blue glazing at Sèvres.  [One Apollo mask is replaced.]
